The North Fairmount Community Center (NFCC) After School Program provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where children can learn, build friendships, and have fun after the school day ends. Located at the Carll Street Family Center, our program gives parents peace of mind while helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Whether your child needs homework help, enjoys creative activities, or simply needs a safe place to spend the afternoon, our After School Program offers something for everyone. Most importantly, every child is encouraged to learn, explore, and reach their full potential.

More Than Childcare
The After School Program was created in the winter of 2021 to meet the growing need for a safe and enriching place for children during the hours after school. While many parents are still at work, children have the opportunity to spend their afternoons learning, building friendships, and participating in activities that support their growth.
Our caring staff creates a positive environment where every child feels welcomed, respected, and supported. Because every child learns differently, we encourage creativity, teamwork, confidence, and personal development through a variety of engaging activities.
Homework Help and Academic Support
Education is one of our highest priorities. Every afternoon, children receive time and support to complete homework and strengthen the skills they are learning in school.

Journaling and Personal Growth
Each child receives their own journal and is encouraged to write regularly throughout the program. Journaling gives children a safe place to express their thoughts, reflect on their day, and build confidence in their writing skills.
Whether responding to a journal prompt or writing freely, children develop important communication and self-expression skills while learning healthy ways to process their emotions.
Healthy Meals and Snacks
Learning is easier when children have the energy they need to succeed. That’s why every participant receives a healthy snack and dinner each day.
Providing nutritious meals helps children stay focused, active, and ready to participate in every activity.
Recreation and Physical Activity
Children stay active every day through a variety of fun physical activities that encourage teamwork, confidence, and healthy lifestyles.
Activities may include:
- Basketball

Because physical activity is an important part of child development, we make movement a fun part of every afternoon.
Arts, Crafts, and Creativity
Creativity is encouraged through hands-on art projects and seasonal crafts.
Children enjoy creating artwork, decorating the center for holidays and celebrations, and participating in projects that allow them to express themselves while building confidence and problem-solving skills.
Building Friendships and Confidence
The After School Program is about much more than academics. Every day, children have opportunities to build friendships, develop leadership skills, and learn how to work together.
Our staff takes time to talk with each child, listen to their experiences, and create an environment where everyone feels included.
