NFCC Youth Programs

The North Fairmount Community Center’s Youth Development Program offers kids a safe place where all are valued and accepted. The purpose of the NFCC programs is to bring the younger members of our community together in a safe environment while engaging them in athletics such as our basketball, soccer, and acrobatics programs. It brings together the kids in the community to teach them the fundamentals of Fitness and Sports in a fun environment.
In the program, they have opportunities to make new friends, connect with others and develop meaningful relationships, be with adults who care about them, and take part in youth-focused programs.
Through this program, the NFCC offers Basketball, Dance, and Acrobatics, which gives them a sense of connection and purpose. It is a chance to stay safe and participate in a life-changing program. It’s a place where they can interact with caring adults who strive to help them develop character traits that will enable them to make a positive impact in their world. Long term, we expect these experiences to instill in teens a lifelong value of being a positive influence in their community.
These programs not only offer a chance at exercise and activity but so much more:
- Increased self-esteem and sense of purpose
- Leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills
- Experience serving under-resourced people in their own community
- The empowerment that comes with knowing they can make a difference
HOW DO WE DEVELOP OUR ATHLETES?
By emphasizing individual excellence. Our athletes work hard to achieve their personal best. They develop inner strength, responsibility, and determination as they learn that the most important competition is within themselves.
Equally skilled players are matched up to push each other to become even better. By training side by side with some of the region’s elite athletes, players see first-hand what it takes to reach the next skill level.
By understanding that preparation is the key. Everything your child does in practice is to prepare them to handle game situations with confidence and skill.
By developing players in a positive, upbeat environment. Training is a safe place where making mistakes is not only okay but also encouraged. Mistakes are how we learn to be better. In the program, they have opportunities to make new friends, connect with others and develop meaningful relationships, be with adults who care about them, and take part in a teen-focused program.
